— 2025 —

Congratulations, Matthew! Matthew Bryman graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. We headed to Matthew’s 1600 to celebrate! While Matthew was in the lab, he presented his work at the 2024 Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Meeting and the 2025 Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day. Additionally, Matthew was honored with the UMBC Undergraduate Presentation Grant and the UMBC Undergraduate Research Award.

 

Mya Merritt and Molly Mollica traveled to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill for some experiments and for Dr. Mollica to deliver a seminar. Thanks for hosting us, Dr. Wolberg, Dr. Sang, and UNC Blood Research Center!

 

Prof. Yueyi Sun (Lafayette College) visited the lab and delivered a great departmental seminar. We were busy sciencing so much, we forgot to take a picture. Thank you so much for joining us, Dr. Sun!

Amirah Harrison presented a poster and oral presentation at the LSAMP Symposium. She won best oral presentation!

Some of the lab attended the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Conference in Baltimore! We got the (obligatory) photo with the BMES letters.

 

Matthew Bryman won the UMBC Undergraduate Presentation Grant and presented a poster at the BMES Annual Conference.

 

Prof. Mollica presented two oral presentations at the 2024 BMES Annual Conference.

 

Prof. Naomi Chesler (University of California Irvine) visited the lab and delivered an excellent departmental seminar. Thank you for joining us, Dr. Chesler!

 

The lab welcomed Ph.D. students Mya Merritt and Shayan Manuchehrfar. Mya joins us after earning her B.S. in Engineering Physics from Morgan State University. Shayan joins us after earning his M.S. in Biomechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran.

 

Kwesi Halm and Amirah Harrison presented posters at the Summer Undergraduate Research Fest.

 

Molly Y. Mollica is awarded the American Heart Association Career Development Award.

 

Molly Y. Mollica is selected as a Translational Training in Research and Hematology (TRTH) Scholar. As a part of this award, the American Society for Hematology (ASH) and the European Hematology Association (EHA) generously provided funding for Dr. Mollica to attend the TRTH Workshop (March 2024 in France), the EHA Annual Conference (June 2024 in Spain), and the ASH Annual Conference (December 2024 in California).
