Shayan Manuchehrfar presented his work at COEIT Research Day 2026 in May. He was honored with the COEIT Research Day 2026 Student Award and $150. Congratulations, Shayan!

 

Ini Olaniyan presented her work at the National Society for Black Engineers Conference in Baltimore, MD and was honored with the UMBC Undergraduate Presentation Grant. Congratulations, Ini!

Principal investigator Dr. Liang Zhu and co-investigators Drs. Sun, Mollica, and Ma were awarded a National Science Foundation Improving Undergraduate STEM Education grant titled, “Facilitating conceptual learning via inquiry-based and video-assisted homework modules for mechanical engineering students with fragmented time.”

 

Trevor Whitfield was awarded the COEIT Student Summer Project Award and presented his work at the 2025 COEIT Summer Poster Session! This work was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Sayantan Bhattacharya.

 

Amirah Harrison presented a poster and oral presentation at the LSAMP Symposium. She won best oral presentation!

Matthew Bryman won the UMBC Undergraduate Presentation Grant and presented a poster at the BMES Annual Conference.

 

Molly Y. Mollica is awarded the American Heart Association Career Development Award.

 

Molly Y. Mollica is selected as a Translational Training in Research and Hematology (TRTH) Scholar. As a part of this award, the American Society for Hematology (ASH) and the European Hematology Association (EHA) generously provided funding for Dr. Mollica to attend the TRTH Workshop (March 2024 in France), the EHA Annual Conference (June 2024 in Spain), and the ASH Annual Conference (December 2024 in California).
