We hosted Prof. Guy Genin for a fantastic seminar titled, “Using Solid Mechanics to Reverse Fibrotic Disease”. It may also be the only mechanical engineering seminar I’ve ever attended that concluded something about belly buttons… Thank you for visiting us, Prof. Genin!

Shayan Manuchehrfar presented his work at the UMBC Annual Research Symposium in April and at the COEIT Research Day 2026 in May. He was honored with the COEIT Research Day 2026 Student Award and $150. Congratulations, Shayan!

 

Ini Olaniyan presented her work at the Grand Challenges Conference in Rome, Italy and at the National Society for Black Engineers Conference in Baltimore, MD. For the latter, she was honored with the Undergraduate Presentation Grant. Congratulations, Ini!

Some of the lab attended the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Conference in Baltimore! We got the (obligatory) photo with the BMES letters.

 

Matthew Bryman won the UMBC Undergraduate Presentation Grant and presented a poster at the BMES Annual Conference.

Molly Y. Mollica is selected as a Translational Training in Research and Hematology (TRTH) Scholar. As a part of this award, the American Society for Hematology (ASH) and the European Hematology Association (EHA) generously provided funding for Dr. Mollica to attend the TRTH Workshop (March 2024 in France), the EHA Annual Conference (June 2024 in Spain), and the ASH Annual Conference (December 2024 in California).
